How to Get Rid Of Discomfort During the Flight

Many people suffer from fear of air and feel quite nervous before the flight. Some experienced travelers advice to have a gulp of alcoholic beverage in such cases. Sometimes it may work but during the continuous flight alcohol is likely to worsen the situation. Here is the list of discomfort and disadvantages that make traveling be plane somewhat troublesome. Anyway there is a number of ways to solve these problems and travel with maximum comfort.

  • The first thing affecting human body and causing unpleasant feelings is non-sufficient barometric pressure. In the cabin of the flying plane the pressure is twice less than the natural one our organism is accustomed to. While take-off and landing the pressure inside the cabin decreases even more. Almost every passenger experiences the unpleasant effects of the low barometric pressure during alternation of the altitude. These effects are ear aching, nausea, dizziness, and stuffiness in ears. These symptoms may remain for some time after the landing. To avoid this it’s not recommended to consume to products that cause changing of blood pressure, such as coffee, coke, alcohol or strong black tea. Moreover alcohol is the cause of dehydration. Remember that after a party we commonly feel thirsty.
  • The second disadvantage is air dryness. The air in the plane cabin is characterized by the extreme drought. The humidity level of such air is far lower than it is required for our body functioning normally. The lack of water suspended matter causes the eye redness, facial skin dehydration, choking and respiratory passages irritation, which results in suffocating cough or tickle in the throat. That’s why it is necessary to drink more fluids. Ask the stewardess to bring you a glass of water. You may also drink green tea or juice but sugary beverages make you feel thirsty again. Be careful with green tea. If it is too strong you may feel your hear beating faster. That tends to be a reason of panicking.

  • The third disadvantage is boredom. The passengers who are to travel by pane at longer distances usually can’t find some quiet activity to entertain themselves. Of course you will be offered headphones to listen to audio programs or watch TV. But that won’t distract you from your thoughts. The oppressing feeling that you are locked up in a closed space for a ling time is rater annoying one. 12 hours of flight are not the most pleasant ones in your life for sure. It’s a good idea to watch series or movies that you never watch at home via your laptop or portable DVD player. Don’t forget about sleeping mask and neck pillow. Sleeping is the best way to make you flight seem shorter and spare the body energy.
  • The fourth discomfort connected with traveling by air is limb swelling and pains. The long sitting doesn’t contribute to well-being. The static uncomfortable pose causes the blood circulation disorder and slows down the lymphatic flow. That’s why our legs and arms swell. Take off you shoes and put slippers on. Make rotations with your feet and neck from time to time.
